The Milky Way is a leader board, conceptually linking star cluster<nowiki/>s to our actual galaxy. The feature was added in Patch 0.7.18.6914, and displays Total Number of Dyson Spheres constructed by all players, their combined power generation, and the total number of solar sails.

The player's own games will be identified with their name and an indicator circle, based on their games' cluster address. Each player who plays the same cluster address (seemingly commingling the last address segment) is ranked for the one star on the galaxy.

The view can be panned and zoomed with standard mouse actions (click and drag, middle mouse wheel).

Clicking on a star will provide the details of the player with the highest power generation in that specific cluster in a fly-out card (pictured, right).
[[File:Milky Way System Detail Card.jpg|alt=A list of 10 player names with their power generation and the cluster in which they generated it. Double clicking will provide that system's expanded leader board.

Summary
Cluster, or star cluster, is the term used to refer to a specific combination of stars, their arrangement, the resource multiplier, and the Dark Fog difficulty settings. The cluster address combines the random number generator's seed, number of stars, resource multiplier, and dark fog difficulty separating each element by hyphens.

Aside: Random Number Generator (RNG) seeds are not specific to DSP, but briefly, when one sets an RNG to a seed, and then asks it for a random number, it will always generate exactly the same series of numbers. To create the illusion of randomness, seeds are usually set by the computer time; by setting a specific seed, the universe generation can behave identically for different players.

For the purposes of the Milky Way leader board, cluster addresses exclude the Dark Fog segment. Players playing without Dark Fog in an otherwise identical cluster (seed, stars, resource multiplier), will be scored together with players with Dark Fog.

From the research tree, "Enhancing battle damage analysis technology facilitates the analysis of ruined buildings, enabling the marking of targets for expedited reconstruction."

This is a combat-oriented technology, speeding up the rate at which Icarus and Battlefield Analysis Bases mark for placing buildings that have been destroyed by the Dark Fog. This is similar to "placing" a building during construction, taking the "memory" of what has been destroyed and re-creating the layout. Once marked, as with construction, a drone will fly from either Icarus or a Battlefield Analysis Base, if there is a building in inventory, and deploy it.
