* Using the Tab key switches the style of the Splitter!
* Using the Tab key lets the Player chose between 3 different splitter variants.
* The Splitter can also sort!
* To filter or sort items with a Splitter, click the small dots in its menu. Only one filter for input and output can be set at a time.
* Splitters can be stacked on top of each other, with the stacking limit being the same as for the storage, determined by the current level of Vertical Construction upgrade.
* Splitters can be stacked on top of each other, up to the limit set by the current level of the Vertical Construction upgrade.
* "Now, Storage MK.I can be built on top of the Splitter. In this way, the cargo in Storage MK.I can also be distributed in and out via the Splitter. However, please note that this feature can only output cargo with a stacking quantity of 1." [Patch notes: Version 0.9.27.15033]
* A single Storage Mk.I can be built on top of the Splitter, allowing its contents to be distributed and received with the Splitter. However, this cannot stack output cargo.
** The storage does not show up on the splitter's priority/filter settings pop-up --  meaning you cannot make it the priority output in order to create a reserve for you to later access; nor can you filter which material from the belts will go into the storage.
** It is also possible to place a Logistics Distributor on top of the splitter-storage, turning it effectively into a miniature Planetary Logistics Station of sorts.
** Though the storage can fill up if the splitter's output belt(s) (if any) can't remove items as quickly as they arrive on it's input belt(s).
** The storage does not show up on the Splitter's priority and filter settings menu, so it cannot be a primary output. It also is not possible to filter which items from input belts will go into the storage.
** The storage will empty as quickly as possible on all output belts -- even if the splitter has one output set as priority the storage contents will be output on all output belts.
** The storage may fill up quickly if the Splitter's outputs (if any) can't distribute items as quickly as they arrive on its inputs.
** The storage & splitter combo does not require power.
** Likewise, the storage will empty as quickly as possible on all output belts. Even if the Splitter has one output set as the priority, the storage's contents will be output on all the Splitter's output belts.
** You can still set a Logistics Distributor on top of the storage -- allowing the splitter, storage, distributor stack to be a source and/or destination for items moved by Logistics Bot
** Neither the Splitter nor the storage requires any power.

*Splitters can be used to efficiently feed byproduct items back into processes and prevent them from clogging up. For instance, producing Casimir Crystals requires both Graphene and Hydrogen, both of which are obtainable by processing Fire Ice. However, they require much more Hydrogen than just the byproduct from Graphene production, so an external supply is necessary. By setting the external supply and the byproduct Hydrogen belts as inputs, then prioritizing the byproduct belt, the byproduct Hydrogen will always be used up before the main supply, preventing it from backing up.

*Similarly, Splitters allow for an efficient Fractionator setup, with the same principle applying. Put the supply of Hydrogen as an input of a Splitter, create a large output loop containing all the Fractionators, then have the loop feed back in as an input. By setting the looped input as the priority, Hydrogen currently in the loop is prioritized, and the supply's Hydrogen will only fill gaps on the belt. To maximize the amount of Hydrogen on the belt at once, use Automatic Pilers at the end of the loop to stack the remaining Hydrogen (as stack height is reduced when Hydrogen is converted to Deuterium) and to stack the input Hydrogen.

Player Tips & Tricks

Various styles of splitters.
  • Using the Tab key lets the Player chose between 3 different splitter variants.
  • To filter or sort items with a Splitter, click the small dots in its menu. Only one filter for input and output can be set at a time.
  • Splitters can be stacked on top of each other, up to the limit set by the current level of the Vertical Construction upgrade.
  • A single Storage Mk.I can be built on top of the Splitter, allowing its contents to be distributed and received with the Splitter. However, this cannot stack output cargo.
    • It is also possible to place a Logistics Distributor on top of the splitter-storage, turning it effectively into a miniature Planetary Logistics Station of sorts.
    • The storage does not show up on the Splitter's priority and filter settings menu, so it cannot be a primary output. It also is not possible to filter which items from input belts will go into the storage.
    • The storage may fill up quickly if the Splitter's outputs (if any) can't distribute items as quickly as they arrive on its inputs.
    • Likewise, the storage will empty as quickly as possible on all output belts. Even if the Splitter has one output set as the priority, the storage's contents will be output on all the Splitter's output belts.
    • Neither the Splitter nor the storage requires any power.
  • Splitters can be used to efficiently feed byproduct items back into processes and prevent them from clogging up.
  • Similarly, Splitters allow for an efficient Fractionator setup, with the same principle applying.
