Summary

Transport items from Conveyor Belts into facilities, from facilities out to cargo belts or between facilities directly. The sorter can install a filter to only move specific items. A Sorter can cover a maximum distance of three tiles.

  • Sorter Mk.I (yellow), which has a transport rate of 1.5 items per second, or 90/min.
  • Sorter Mk.II (green), which has a transport speed of 3 items per second or 180/min.
  • Sorter Mk.III (blue), which has a transport speed of 6 items per second or 360/min, multiplied by the current Sorter Cargo Stacking bonus (36/s or 2,160/min at level 5).

Player Tips & Tricks

Sorters, like Splitters, can have filters applied to them. This allows for the possibility of transporting several different components on a single Conveyor Belt, rather than requiring a separate conveyor for each component. Likewise, filtered Sorters can be used to output specific components from specific ports on buildings that produce more than one component, such as Oil Refineries.

Unlike the Mk.I and Mk.II models, when upgraded, the Mk.III stacks several items each trip, which may cause jams if the input consists of more than one kind of item, like when feeding an assembling machine from a storage or when taking items out of production facilities that have several outputs. This can be avoided by setting a filter in the sorter.

To apply a filter, select an installed sorter, then click Filter on the control panel that appears. Choose which component you wish the sorter to handle exclusively.

To remove a filter, select an installed sorter, then click the X that appears next to the component’s icon.

Faster sorters will take priority over slower sorter when unloading a storage container.
